Most desk objects are afterthoughts — cheap plastic fidget toys, promotional pens, things you reach for once and forget. We wanted to make something different. Something you reach for every day.
The making of ST-01
ST-01 began as a sketch in Amsterdam in 2023. The brief was deceptively simple: create a desk object with no app, no battery, and no instructions — one that anyone could pick up and immediately understand.
After hundreds of prototypes and machining iterations, we arrived at three precision parts in aerospace-grade anodised aluminium. They connect magnetically and offer four distinct tactile interactions: spin, click, flip, and snap. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing missing.
ST-01 launched on Kickstarter in 2024 and was funded at 430% by 637 backers across 30 countries. It now ships to the United States and Canada.
